Web Technology Inspector Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 17, 2026
Web Technology Inspector is a local-only Chrome extension. It does not use analytics, telemetry, advertising, or third-party services.
Information the extension accesses
To inspect the active page, the extension accesses browser-provided metadata, including:
- Request URLs, request types, response headers, and IP address families.
- The active page hostname and navigation and frame lifecycle information.
- The presence of selected HTML metadata names and link relations, without reading or storing metadata contents.
- The presence of selected JavaScript globals and browser-platform API usage names, without storing their values or arguments.
- Page timing, service worker state, HTML5 video playback metrics, and active WebGL or WebGPU renderer information.
- Cookie records applicable to the active page, only to count them.
The extension does not inspect page payloads or application data. Cookie values, raw request URLs, response headers, and IP addresses are not stored or displayed.
How information is used
Accessed information is used only to calculate and display diagnostic results in the extension popup. Derived per-tab results may be held in Chrome session storage while the browser session is active.
The extension does not send this information to the developer or any other service, and it does not make outbound network requests.
